Safety-focused SRTS Reports and Travel Plans

Each year, the Resource Center works with a limited number of school communities to develop a plan to improve walking and bicycling conditions around the school.

Because safety is a common concern, the Resource Center if offering assistance to 3 or 4 schools to complete a Safety-focused SRTS Report. This type of SRTS plan is ideally suited for schools where the local governments can be a strong partner in identifying and addressing safety needs for students walking and bicycling to a specific school.  Take a look at past Safety-focused SRTS Reports:

North Mitchell Elementary is available here

Kindezi School is available here

Henderson Mill is available here

The Safety-focused SRTS Report identifies projects to design, build and begin using for walking or bicycling to and from school that both capture short-term opportunities (within 1 or 2 years) and longer term needs (within 3 to 5 years).

Schools (or local governments) interested in applying for assistance should note these dates:

By September 8, 2016: Tell us of you intent to apply*

By September 29, 2016:  Submit the application with all required information

By October 7:  The Resource Center announce awards

*We plan to complete our work this fall, so we’re requiring a significant amount of information about your school as part of the application. Because it may take some time to gather the information, we ask that that by September 8, 2016, you let us know of your intent to apply.
