The Georgia Safe Routes to School Resource Center is excited to announce the inaugural Georgia Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, November 17-21, 2014, a week-long celebration for crossing guards and their role in helping keep students safe as they walk and bicycle to school.

School crossing guards are an integral part of a school community, routinely braving traffic and weather to assist students across busy roads and intersections. They serve as a role model for the children, and also play a vital role in reminding adults to drive safely in school zones.

Schools and communities are encouraged to set aside the week to recognize and thank crossing guards at their school.  Click here for ideas on ways to say ‘thank you’ and downloadable materials.

School Outreach Coordinators from the SRTS Resource Center are available to assist with event planning during Crossing Guard Appreciation Week.
