Crossing Guard Training Helps Students Walk and Bike to School Safely
The Coastal Regional Commission’s (Friend) Ron Sadowski and Alison Gramza of Safe Kids Savannah (Friend) and PACE to coordinate a Crossing Guard Train-the Trainer for the region in late July at West Chatham Elementary (Gold Partner) in Pooler.
SOC Patti Sistrunk invited Carole Willis, Crossing Guard Supervisor and Trainer with Atlanta Public Schools, to provide the training. Ms. Willis, certified by the Florida Crossing Guard Program as an instructor, trained representatives from the Savannah Chatham Public Schools Police, City of Pooler Police Department, Jesup Police Department, Glynn County Schools Police, City of Hinesville Police Department, City of St. Mary’s Police, Dekalb Public Schools Police, and Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
Crossing guard trainings in other parts of Georgia are being planned.
