The Georgia SRTS Resource Center has completed a Walk Audit toolkit that is perfect for middle school students to lead.  The toolkit, based on the Walk Audit toolkit prepared by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) and with guidance from students at Floyd Middle School (Mableton), is written for a middle school student audience, shows students how to form a walk audit group, decide which streets to audit, and things to do immediately to improve walking conditions. The toolkit also includes a glossary of terms common to pedestrian transportation planning and a resource guide that encourages students to find out who in their community can help, such as the public works department and city council.  The toolkit may complement the middle school Georgia Performance Standards for social studies and math. This resource lives on the Tips and Tools page of the Georgia SRTS website.
