Planning is in full swing for the June 6 Statewide SRTS Forum.  This free event (including lunch) will offer a mix of sessions from how to spice up your SRTS event to how to conduct a walkability review.  You’ll hear from school SRTS champions, SRTS advocates, and other leaders.  During lunch, you’ll meet this year’s Resource Center Partners of the Year, and Katherine Moore,* Sustainable Growth Manager for the Georgia Conservancy, will share the latest on school siting policy in the state. For the past three years, the Georgia Conservancy’s Sustainable Growth program has helped broaden awareness of, and encourage greater use of, the EPA’s voluntary School Siting Guidelines aimed at improving neighborhood and community sustainability.

The forum runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes a catered lunch. Registration is open through June 3.

*Katherine Moore (AICP) is a community planner with 16 years’ experience in the private and nonprofit sectors. She currently serves as Director of Georgia Conservancy’s statewide Sustainable Growth program. This program has provided technical planning assistance to over 30 communities across Georgia, placing emphasis on school siting, small town stabilization, and public recreation access as key sustainability initiatives.
