The Georgia Safe Routes to School Resource is again hosting Student Travel Tally Week - a time set aside for gathering and analyzing student travel mode data by completing Student Travel Tallies. Student Travel Tally Week is a time to encourage all schools to collect information about how students travel to and from school. We encourage schools to complete tallies during the same short period of time, such as a single week of specific month, in order to get an accurate comparison from year to year.

If you did not participate last year, we encourage you to do so this year. If you participated last year, thank you! We’ve made some changes for this year that will make things a bit easier for you.

  • Student Travel Tally Week is September 10, 2012!
  • But, all of September will be Student Travel Tally Month. If the week of September 10 doesn’t work well for your school, collect data anytime during the month. Just make sure you collect two days’ worth of data within the same week, and do not complete on a day that the school is holding a Walk to School Day.
  • Remember, completing tallies is required of all school Partners who are Bronze-level and above.
  • Participation is simple! Follow the simple directions on the back of this letter, and contact your School OutreachCoordinator if you need assistance.

We hope that you will join us this year and help us learn more about student travel modes in Georgia.
